Did Anne Nichols (b 1652 Fairfield, CT) really die young? (Discrepancy in Families of Old Fairfield)?

+4 votes

In looking at the Caleb Nichols family in Families of Old Fairfield (Jacobus), in the summary of children, it says that daughter Anne died young.

But it looks like she's named in Caleb's will dated 1690, but that she wasn't included in signing off of the distribution of his estate in 1702, which seems like she died sometime between those two events? (Which would make her not particularly young).

The will apparently didn't include his daughters married names, and since there isn't a representative for her heirs, I'd assume she probably died without issue.

Am I reading this correctly?  Is the "died young" notation just an just an error?

There were three daughters of Caleb living in 1702: Mary, Hannah and Phebe. Hannah was probably the one mentioned in the will as Anna.

I agree that daughter Hannah was probably the "Anna" named in the 1690 will. However, Hannah/Anna was not mentioned in the 1702 distribution, although she is also named as being alive and unmarried in 1706. Why she was not included in the distribution is an interesting mystery not yet solved. I think also that the Anne who is reported as dying young did in fact do so.
Thank you both. FOOF is an excellent source, and while nothing is infallible, I had a feeling that I was missing something.
M, thank you for best answer. I appreciate it.

Anne, what relevance does that record have to the original question here?
