It has been my experience in order to see the cause of death, you have to prove you are a relative of the deceased; otherwise, they will send a redacted copy.

I'm thinking you already checked the Ancestry and Family Search for the death certificate--but I know they have limited numbers available.

Hi Trisha, one more note... I chose these links to request the death cert because of the year of death. Missouri has online records for some years that can be accessed here: https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/Archives/ArchivesMvc/DeathCertificates
