Where did Virginia disappear to after her daughter, Sophia's birth?

Virginia Jones was born April 11, 1845 in Ohio to a William N Jones (1809-1887), and Jemima Smith (1819-1894). 1850 census : District 61, Tyler, Virginia. 1860 : Pleasants, West Virginia. 1870 : Lafayette, Pleasants, West Virginia. 1880 : Wood, West Virginia.

She married an Enoch H Smith March 26, 1865 in Pleasants, West Virginia.

Her daughter, Sophia M Smith was born about 1881. I can't find anymore records of Virginia.

Sophia and her father went to Washington co Ohio in 1900 so Sophia could give birth out of wedlock, then returned to WV.

I found 1 newspaper clipping about a Nellie White, name believed to be Virginia Smith, who passed at St. Vincent's Hospital in Marion Co Indianapolis in 1882. How would I go about finding these records?
