In the drop-down UI, there is a time range appended to the location which is extremely useful for showing the political/name changes associated with a location and selecting the correct (non-anachronistic) name for a location at the time in question. This is not input when the location is suggested.
The problem is that very frequently the full name extends past the width of the text input field. This isn't an issue for the name once entered since one can easily scroll left and right to see it (especially on desktop); but it is impossible to see the cut-off date range this way; there's no way to get that information from the normal web UI.
I'm not sure if it's easily technically possible to make the drop-down menu extend to the right to the maximum length of any entry when this is wider than the text box; that would be ideal.
Alternatively, making the text box wider, making it automatically dynamically widen to the width of the longest drop-down entry, or simply making it resizable would all be options that would make this information accessible. (Again, I'm not sure it's easily possible to make the location text box resizable only to the right and not make it a multiline text area instead of a text field.)
Of these alternate solutions, I think dynamically widening the text box to the width of the longest text field might be the friendliest.
