  • Profiles of non-living people without any sensitive information or real privacy concerns should be Open.
  • Profiles of people born over 150 years ago or who died over 100 years ago must be Open.

The privacy level of the profile you ask about can be set as the Profile Manager wishes it to be set. Any attached persons will be partially masked by the system based on the dates in those profiles.  See this for additional info. It's to the benefit of WikiTree that profiles be set to Open unless there is reason for them to be otherwise.

For those dates Any privacy level is allowed except for unlisted. It is a choice of the profile manager as to what level they set. There are arguments that someone that is dead should have an Open profile only as well as arguments for profiles having red privacy level.

Personally the only profiles on my watchlist that are not open privacy or unlisted privacy fall into two categories. One is that there is another profile manager involved and the other is that the profile was adjusted in ways I considered vandalism and so I have put the profiles into Public privacy level. So I fall into the "Have it Open for Collaboration" camp.

Other Profile Managers are entitled to set privacy levels as they see fit with the exceptions being Born less than 100 years ago/no death date resulting in Unlisted privacy for non members and the born 150 years ago/died 100 years ago Open privacy rule.

Edit done for spelling mistake

I added this under Children:

:-- Privacy <ref>* Privacy Level on WikiTree: If descendants want a greater privacy level, please contact the Profile Manager. All requests out-right honored. </ref>

I guess that invitation should do it.  Currently set to 'green,' but "should be set to private" doesn't tell me which 'private.'  And, until I did this one profile, I didn't know that I don't know.

Thank you so much for your answers.  B.
