Editing first name won't show up

Question

When I went to add my grand father's name instead it pulled my dad's name. so he showed up as a child and husband.  tried to correct and now grandfather keeps on showing up as Anonymous,  How do I shut off the green dot so his first name shows up?

Put the first name in the Preferred Name field as well as the First Name field.

I am afraid you have no father nor grandfather linked to your profile. You also have a dual first name (Anonymous and another one).

What is the link (URL, the part in the browser) of the profile of your father, and that of your grandfather that you added?

And the linked profile is actually set as a father and a husband, so that is not correct. You might have edited your own profile, instead of adding a new one.

To add your father, you have to go to edit mode on your own profile, then in the top corner you see [father] and [mother]. Click on those to add your father. Add all details and make sure to save.

Then go back to your own profile, and correct the first name again to your own.

There are profiles linked -  you just can't see them due to them being living, and thus private.

If you leave the Preferred Name field blank, it will always display as Anonymous.

Don't leave it blank. (its non-obvious and counter intuitive)
