How useful is 192.com for UK information

As an adopted child, I'm looking at my half-siblings and my birth mother to research my birth tree. BM has passed, and siblings want no contact.  However, they have an entry on 192.com "based on 2002-03 Electoral Roll" .  How much information does 192.com provide? Is it worth the minimum 6 credits subscription? I can't see I would use them all in a month, so it is quite an expense for minimal benefit.

does anyone have a subscription to 192 or access to electoral rolls in the UK???

I have 3 hits on my Birth fathers name and would love to see what information pops up.

Ivor G Pope 2 are in bristol and 1 in Cambridgeshire.

I am looking for a birth in 1955 which would make him 66 ish

if anyone has anything I would love to hear.

I have not used 192.com, but I have had a look at the latest electoral rolls on Ancestry which are from the 1980s. The only information they contain is Name of the street, Name of the elector and Number in the street. So you can see the first name, middle initial and last name of all the people of voting age who were living at a particular address, but there is no information about their ages or relationships. I don't know for certain but I would guess that the 2002-03 electoral rolls only contain the same information.

Hi Martin,

I am an adoptee too.  Both of my birth parents passed away in the 1980s, but I used 192.com when tracing my paternal line and located an uncle from an address listed on an electoral register.

If I remember correctly, you get the full address from the electoral register and names of other registered voters at the same address.

It took a couple of letters to different people to get the right one, but I have subsequently met my uncle and his wife, had a lot of information about my birth father and seen photographs of him.

The cost of the credits was a small price to pay, to be honest.

Good luck with your research,

David.

Findmypast has access to UK Electoral Registers & Companies House Directors 2002-2020. They do have Electoral Registers for Cheshire 1842-1900 but nothing more recent.

They also offer a 14 Day Free Trial.
