What is Joes stand for and is Jonas a nickname or proper name?  

I'm working with Joannis, Johannes, Jakob, etc....getting them confused I think.

Joes would be an abbreviation for Johannes, Joannes is the Latin version for Johannes (Latin did not have an "H"). Joannis would most likely be a declined version of Joannes. Many languages use declension of nouns and names and Joannis would be the genitive or possessive case of Joannes.

Jonas is the Germanic form of the biblical Jonah.
