20 degrees, 10th cousins once removed, MRCA Gerard Spencer (Spencer-165)
I'm precisely 18 degrees from her, but it's through her husband, whose name is private, and it's through my great uncle's wife and one other marriage.

That's interesting Scott. My spouse and I show no connection other than our marriage.  But the relationship-finder shows that you and I are also 9th cousins, MRCA William Carpenter.  So you're a bridge between me and my spouse ... no pressure!

9th Cousin once removed. Common grandoa was John Chipman who married Hope Howland. Hope's parents were on the Mayflower.

12th cousins by my fathers side who traveled to the other side of the world and back to get to Canada.  Am I closer by my mother's side whose ancestors settled in West Chester, Nova Scotia in 1765?
by John Thompson G2G6 Pilot (368k points)
You would think, wouldn't you, since my ancestors include two families in Chester at that time, Giffin and Bradshaw.  They must have rubbed shoulders with your mother's ancestors - maybe they shared a bottle of rum (Giffin), or a prayer (Bradshaw)!

Like David, Laurie is my 8th cousin, once removed.  In my case, Laurie and I are both descended from Thomas Woodbury.

I've heard from a lot of people this week, John, and so far, you're the closest. Our MRCA shows as Maj Nathaniel Parker who settled in Nictaux, but both of us show the Liverpool Freeman clan in the line of descent, so I'm not surprised we share 81 common ancestors ...

We are 10th cousins, with common ancestor William Fowler. My husband and I always try to guess which of us will have the closer connection... this week my connection was through his family, and 20 degrees. It connected through another Fowler, but one seemingly unrelated to me.

I do want to commend Laurie on a profile that is very enjoyable to read! I always look forward to this feature every week.

Thank you Katherine!  I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a fun feature, and I love the way you and your hubby have made it a bit of a game.
