A number of Brewster profiles have recently been orphaned.  I am going through and adoptin each one individually, but there are lots.  Is there an easier way?

As long last, here it is: Special:Adoptions

It enables you to limit by surname, e.g. http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special%3AAdoptions&order=&s=brewster

Here's a new G2G thread announcing it.

A big thank-you to Vic and everyone else who asked for this. WikiTree members amaze me with their generosity.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I am also interested in cleaning up orphan files.  Too much sitting out there with incorrect information or for us to sift through to find others of like interest.  If we could correct, merge and delete orphan files it would cut the sift down.  When I started I sifted and found many orphan files.  I did not understand what adopt ment.  I did not want to merge files that were inaccurate. Now as I hunt I adopt and clean.  There has to be a better way.  Al

Thank you, Al and Vic, for wanting to do this. It's appreciated.

We don't have a "bulk adopt" feature, and nothing is in the planning stages. Do you have ideas on how it might work? If you do, post again.
I was just picking up some orphans piecemeal. They recently became orphaned when someone else stopped bing active on WikiTree. I found them by happy accident.

I was thinking it would be great if there was a way to notify a person when surnames in their watchlist were connected to newly orphaned profiles. For example, "Your watchlist shows you have an interest in the Boop famlly. 2 Boop profiles need managers, if you are interested."

That's a great idea, Sandi. Let me think about how this might be done.

Happy holidays!
I like Sandi's idea, as well. I try to adopt those I find that I feel competant to manage and would use a tokl of this nature if something were figured out.
Or even just being able to view a list of orphaned files might help, as we can view matches/merges etc...

If we had a catagory orphan files, that were sorted by catagory surname and if possible alphabetized given name, birth, death and/or marriage date, with a column which could allow one to x a box so in some way select a "group of those persons only" then all selected could be adopted at one time.  The hard part of the current adoption method is when a person is adopted we get the entire family line with it.  I recently adopted Walter Palmer of whom I have a wealth of knowledge and a great many hours of research on my line of descent.  I have all of someones line of descent and have very limited research beyond Walter and his imediate family and one daughter in my line.  I will do my best with the rest.  This file is a mess children that don't exist in this family, multiple children with the same information, wives that were never part of this family, it is just a mess.  A delete would help.  Al
