No Source, no connections profiles [closed]

Found this one on the unsourced list.  Orphaned, no connections to anyone, and virtually no information to go on. I located a Clyde Maurice Olmstead, born in South Dakota within a couple of years birth/death wise. Would it violate WikiTree policy if I just sourced this the one I found?''

I think it should be acceptable, it is what those folk in the Connect A 'Thon do, they source the profiles and make a strong effort to lay a paper trail down in order to connect the profiles to the one big family tree -- basically they construct as far as possible a branch for the Tree

They look for parents, siblings, anyone blood kin and barring blood kin they look for a spouse and try to build the connection that way
Thanks, Susan. Seemed to me it shouldn't be a problem, but thought I ought to run it by the group.

Well, it looks like a merge would be more appropriate:

but will need to see if the PM is willing to go along with it.

When Clyde Olmstead-2144 was first created, I emailed the manager (living Edgar) for more information; he never replied. He since orphaned the profile.

I adopted 2144 today. Olmstead-5904 may not be the same person, though it might be. I'm the manager of 5904 and I've added to his biography today (he is a member of a very large Olmstead family from South Dakota) including his obituary & FAG.

(Living) Edgar may be a closed account as trying to see his current activity returns a screen that I was not expecting (his profile) but about requesting trusted list to be sent to "closed accounts" or "Geoffrey Edgar." I will follow through on this.

Currently 2144 is being kept  "as is" i.e., c. c1930 MN and d. c.1980 MT. My gut feeling is that (Living) Edgar created 2144 based on estimated data from sketch family information as it is someone what close to 5904 b 1928 SD & d. 1998 ID

Yes, it would violate WikiTree policy to change that profile to represent a different person. See Recycling WikiTree IDs.

Greg, all the dates on this profile are "about,"  It seem reasonable that someone with the same name within a few years of the birth or death dates might actually be the correct person.

I'm just asking for clarification of this policy.
