The wikitree book

I think it would b e a good idea to create a set of instructions for creating a book called say “the Wikitree book of the Whitten families at 3 Nov 2020.. I think it should contain

Descendant trees, Contents of those trees, an index, a list of data doctors suggestions To be done before the next edition.. list of suggestions, maybe addresses.

Gdpr might cause problems. What do you think should be in it?

Sir William, are you looking for something to be printed out and distributed to family as a keepsake? I'm not sure I'm following because you mention the data doctors suggestions also, and I'm not sure how those would fit into a printed work.

I think the strength of Wikitree is that it is specifically unbound to print, and is always evolving. I can see the utility of something like this for family reunions, but almost everyone nowadays has access to the web through their phones.

Also, what scope are you thinking about? the universal tree is unprintably large

As you say it would be ijmposssible to print the whole tree, or even the mackenzie families ,but far from impossible to pick out the Whitten family"

And would it be a good thing to include data doctor suggestions?
I think I am unsure of the utility. If the idea is to give family members a keepsake, it will too quickly become out of date, and sending them to the wikitree site is a reasonable solution since everyone has internet in their back pocket.

In a printed work, many of the data doctors suggestions related to invalid characters or tags would be meaningless, but perhaps the ones related to improper dates or places would prompt people to find corrections?

I feel it would be better to print perhaps a sample of what can be found here, with clear instructions on how to find it, even if they only wish to browse and not contribute.
