Prime Minister Scott Morrison has recommended the Queen posthumously award World War II hero Edward 'Teddy' Sheean a Victoria Cross. - Tasmanian Sheean, an 18-year-old with less than two years at sea, was an Ordinary Seaman on the minesweeper HMAS Armidale when it came under heavy attack from Japanese aircraft off the coast of what is now Timor-Leste in 1942.

No, indeed he appears to have been a very brave young man . Nevertheless, shouldn't you wait for the Queen to accept the recommendation and the VC to be conferred  before adding him to the list?

Just a case of celebrating what has been decades and millions of dollars in the making. The PM has all but confirmed it.

Well, that consent was either extremely fast or already known!  Interesting because it does  seem to create a precedent.

It was put forward as an exception, had bipartisan support, went through multiple reviews and appeals. It has taken 34years since the family started pushing for it.
