This is a summer of 1940 photo of my husband's family on vacation in Springfield, Missouri. His aunt is far left, and his great grandmother Tennie is in front of the open car door. His grandmother Audrey is in the center, and his father LeRoi is only turning 19, but he looks older, since he is tall. The two men on the right are my husband's grandfather and grand uncle, and his great grandfather took this photo.

One of our most beautiful vacations.

My wife and me in 2017 at the North Cape in Norway. The weather was very sunny but the wind was sharp and cold.

Love to fish ... my youngest son, Jeffery "Jeff" Dale Sims (1972-...), and my brother-in-law, Laurence "Larry" Harold Davie (1933-2019), took an annual vacation to do some fishing in Canada.

Below is a photo from one of the vacation trips.  Think this was somewhere around 1992-1955.  none of the fish are really big ... but they are just perfect eating size.  Fresh Walleyes out of the lake and straight into  the frying pan!!!

Bill, I can't see your picture. Judging your Mach 1 title, you have been doing this quite a while. Why is it so hard to get a picture posted properly?
I have no ideas why you can't see it ...

I did go to the link that was in your message ... and it took me to some 2019 and not 2020 web pages ...

I went to the vacation page and the photo appears as normal

so no idea?

Bill, I can't see it either.  I've had this problem before.   Did you add: Space:52_Photos_Week_33_Vacation to "in this image" on the image page?  It appears that the photo may be privacy protected.  I'm not sure that's the answer -- maybe someone else can help.

I have no idea ... hopefully someone out there can help??

My grandfather is on the right hand end.  He took many car trip vacations (my dad remembered loathing the long hot rides).  This trip was with his parents and his aunt & uncle to Cattlesburg, KY.  It's likely they were just there because it was some place they hadn't been before.

Jennifer, thank you for sharing your great vacation photo. I love how cute the ladies look in their dresses and hats. Yes, those summer trips were hot in those cars without air conditioning.

My grandparents, Helen and Victor Stromsted, on vacation in Panama, probably in the 1970s.  After Victor retired, the two made a habit of taking vacations all over the world.  Their travels took them across the International Date Line and spanned multiple continents.  Most of their photos are preserved on thousands of slides that I hope to be able to view.

We always promised ourselves a vacation in Tasmania, Australia so decided to make the most of it between our grandson's 21st birthday celebrations and granddaughter's 18th birthday celebrations in Queensland, Australia.  Tasmania was everything we'd hoped to see - beautiful scenery, company and the food was dee-licious!

My uncle and my dad, about 1935, not sure why this pic now has lines all over it!500px-Ross-19824.jpg

by M Ross G2G6 Pilot (729k points)
Thank you M. for sharing this darling photo, your dad and uncle are so cute in their swim clothes.
The lines are probably from when it was initially scanned.
Thanks, I will scan it again, I'm sure it's in one of the many family history boxes!

Mrs. Ohmann at Big Lake, 1926:   https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Sachs-132-2

by Living D G2G6 Mach 2 (21.3k points)
Plus two more people if you look close :)

I checked out her profile, that's got a lot of info! Well done.

Thank you!  You have a good eye, Rob!  So kind of you to read the profile, although it is a bit rough still.  I hope to whip it into shape in the near future.  And I can identify the other two - so I will be sure to add their names to the photo.  The caption "Mrs. Ohmann at Big Lake" was written by my grandmother, Mrs. Ohmann's soon-to-be daughter-in-law.

For rural areas even into the 1970s and 1980s, the "swimming hole" was one of the most iconic places for kids to spend their summer. In central Iowa, where my mother grew up, July and August are usually quite hot, and I imagine in 1933 spending time in water was about the only way to cool off without air conditioning. I love this picture of my mother with her cousins.

What lovely kids!  I'll bet your mom became a bit of a tom-boy after hanging out with her 4 cousins. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, they are so cute!

I only just found a vacation photo of my ancestors! My maternal great grandfather was Swedish American. His parents moved to New Jersey, but some of his Swedish aunts and uncles stayed in Massachusetts. So they would visit their aunts, uncles and cousins in Worcester, Massachusetts. This is a photo of my great grandfather, Axel Johnson, my great grandmother, Alice (Archer) Johnson and their children; (l-r) DotPaul, Lois (my grandmother) and Carl. The photo was taken in about 1940 (going by their ages) in Worcester, Massachusetts.
