Possible bug creating new profile

I have noticed that when I create a new sibling of an existing profile with no parents, a new Unknown parent is auto created, but this unknown-surname’s profile lacks the biography, sources and reference tags that normally get autocreated

Maybe the hint is to not do it this way. These Unknown profiles are really a pain. They require renaming, are really difficult to source and manage.

The method I use is to go to the father and add a child to him. That will give the child his last name and will not create a parent. (You can do mother as well if that suits your area better of course). So if you lack a father, it is better to create a clean profile with estimates. It is very rare you don't have a hint of the parent's name.

It's not a bug.  This is just the way things work. Siblings can only be created in the database if they have at least one connecting parent. Probably a good idea to do as Michel suggests. :)

It is an inconsistency that the Unknown father doesn't have the skeleton biography section. That is easily added since it is only three lines. An annoyance, for sure. A clean profile, as Ros says, is usually a better way to go since you then get what you want and can usually add the estimates of birth or death based on age of the siblings which should really be added.

I haven't found it rare that there isn't a hint for parents. Most of my ancestors who came to Canada have no hint whatsoever as to parentage. My wife has found the same thing.
