EditBot WikiTree?

Why is a bot making changes to profiles? This doesn't pass the common sense test. Has nobody seen the Terminator movies?

I for one welcome our EditBot overlords

EditBot only makes changes to things like categories and templates, not the profile itself.  It has been doing so for years.  It is a useful computer script: say, for example, the England Project needed to change 9,000 categories, it is much easier to have EditBot make the changes.  And this bot needs to be authorised by the Wikitree Team.

A bot cannot edit a private profile without being on the Trusted List. A bot could not edit Pre-1700 Profiles without the Pre-1700 Certified badge.

What was the purpose of the edits that were made? Why isn't there a pre-notification process/message?

EditBot renamed some categories so they would fit in with WikiTree's migration categories (this is only one I know of; there are probably loads of category changes):

[[Category:Unassisted Immigrants from Devon]]
became
[[Category: Unassisted Immigrants from Devon to Australia]]
