Getting rid of a tree branch

In growing my tree I advanced to my GGreat grandfather. Further investigation led me into his mothers affair and then later she married a Patrick, some say Thomas Meshack Patrick (Patrick-2843). To make this story shorter, I am simply unwilling to pursue the Patrick branch or correct anything entered thus far.

Should I simply delete my inputs or let someone adopt this branch??

Since his profile and the work is out there, I'd just remove the connection from your tree and as long as the privacy setting is open on those profiles, remove yourself as profile manager. Someone may eventually adopt them and benefit from the work you've already done.

Nobody should be removing connections that are accurate, just because the discoveries are unpleasant.

I empathize for you in discovering unflattering information in your ancestry. I have my own as well.

However, since WikiTree's goal is a single unified tree, I would suggest you leave what you have entered so far and let someone adopt those profiles so that WikiTree can further its goal.

I agree.  No reason to un do work done

The other answers are very kindly formulated, but are a bit vague in that respect.

1. You cannot delete profiles you made

2. You cannot remove links between profiles if they are true. That would harm the tree and attract the attention of the rangers (I hope).

3. If you feel you do not want to look after profiles anymore, you can remove yourself as profile manager. You can easily do that for complete branches. The profiles then become orphans (there are loads of those). This is what I suggest you do.
