Shared Photo: Christopher Little enrolled in Imperial Yeomanry for Boer War

I wanted to share this family photo of Christopher Little , my great grandfather, seated on the left. Presumably taken after enrolment in the Imperial Yeomanry in London on 9 Mar 1901. I have no idea who the other two self assured soldiers are. Perhaps recruiting officers? Fellow soldiers who realised this man had metal working skills, from a line of blacksmiths? Useful as the Yeomanry were cavalry.

Another interpretation of the photo is that, just as the army made recruits write a will and deducted pay to be paid to dependents, maybe this was a “Last” photo, with commanding officers, to send to relatives? The Imperial Yeomanry was a newly formed, not very traditional, regiment.
