Aseneth Paul was my 3x Great-Grandmother, mother to son Ransom Paul and daughter Phyzilla Paul.  Aseneth Paul later married Zebulon Foss and again married Timothy Mott.

Thank you Betty, I have seen these records for the Paul family from Saratoga and was tempted to think perhaps this Ransom Paul abandoned/divorced Aseneth Paul and remarried Roby Paul.

It could make sense because Aseneth's children Phyzilla b1837 and Ransom b1844 are older than the oldest child of Ransom and Roby Paul from Saratoga with daughter Matilda b1846.

I did not pursue this possible connection because I have been drawn to the 1840 census record showing a James Paul in Chateaugay, the best evidence of a "Paul" in Chateaugay at the same time as Aseneth Paul.

Maybe I will see where the Ransom Paul from Saratoga will lead me.

Thank you again!

The 1840 census shows Ransom Paul from Saratoga b1809 living with wife and 2 children, a boy and girl, both under 5 years old, born between 1835 and 1840.  The 1850 census that you've cited has the oldest daughter in the household Matilda b1846.

Again, I can't see how Ransom from Saratoga fits as Aseneth's husband due to the children involved.

Would you agree?

Thanks,

Peter
