When a Template is changed

+9 votes
It looks like a lot of templates for stickers have been changed to improve them. Could I suggest that when that is done an announcement is made both here and to the communication method for the appropriate project members?

I have some standard stickers I use frequently. I don’t look up the the Wikitree template page every time I use it  but access a notepad I’ve kept with frequently used templates. Thus I can (and apparently have) unknowingly used “deprecated” stickers long after they were changed leaving me with a long suggestion list and an unenviable task of changing 100s of templates. I can’t be the only one.

Thanks for your consideration.

Hopefully, if they change a template in the future, they will post the information on G2G, and the Suggestions that Ales has added will notify people quicker of a change.
This is another reason to not use stickers.

Are you talking about Named parameter: sub in {{Global Cemeteries|sub=Illinois That is the case for editBOT. I have to check with cemeteries project about it.

In the future, you will be notified within a week in suggestion reports. That is much better than in the past, when you weren't notified at all.

The cemetery one is my biggest headache. I have several cemetery free pages.  But I understand both the died in battle and 1776 stickers have changed as well. Looks like edit box fixed the died in battle ones.
My request is that we might be notified *before* it shows up in suggestion list.
There is usually a discussion where a change request is requested and detailed. But recently (last year or two) all the changes are back compatible or EditBOT changes what is needed. This are suggestions for last 10 years of template changes.

EditBOT corrected the Global Cemetery ones. It took quite some time so some of the suggestions will be present for another week. Just leave them be.

I saw that.  I really appreciate it. If it it took editbot that long I can’t imagine how long it would have taken me!
