Naming GEDCOM imports?

Do you think it would it be helpful to invite people who are uploading GEDCOM's to name them after their WikiTree profile ID? For example: schmoe-123.ged

Hi Sandi,

Why? So it's in the text of the page? (The uploading user's name is in the change history.)

We could rename the file like this upon upload, though having the original file name may have some value for the user.

Hi Chris,

I see what you mean about original names having value for the user, particularly if they have more than one large file.

I was thinking in terms of 1) having a standard for users, and 2) creating a consistent visual cue on the profile, without having to dig deeper.

If there is a standard GEDCOM naming format, it could include the user's designation too: schmoe-123_grandmasancestors.ged

But perhaps that would add a discouraging layer of complexity for most people.
