Comments on John Tillett III

Good Day

The system has now allowed Ms Vosberg to change the mother to a different Veale.  Why?

If she wants George Tillot to be the father of John Tillett III in her family tree, fine; but not in mine.  Because my mother was a Tillett, this issue is more than an academic exercise for me.  Is there some way to separate Ms Vosberg's tree from mine, which links to that of Theresa Shaffer, who is the manager of this account?

The following link refers to original sources confirming that John Tillett III was the son of John Tillett and Millicent Veale

Carolyn Vosberg removed John Tillett as the father of John III (Tillett-123). Tillett-20, I believe, is the same John Tillett who was removed as the father. However, Tillett-20 does not list John as a child. However, in the Will section of the detailed Bio he appears to have been included as the brother of Bonony, one of the children you listed. Should the four Johns be connected? Here's what I have John Tillett (c 1620, England to c 1678, Virginia) spouse Mary Elizabeth Mathew (c 1620, England; c. 1680, Virginia) parents of John Tillett 1641, Prince William County, Virginia 1698, Stafford County, Virginia spouse of Mary Bourne [Bourne-936] c. 1658, Prince William, Virginia 1723, Fairfax County Virginia parents of John Tillett 1682, Prince William County, Virginia 10 Sept 1734, Prince William County, Virginia spouse of Millicent Veale [Veale-184] 1713, Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, Virginia 1749, Prince William County, Virginia parents of John Tillett [Tillett-123] 1729, Prince William County, Virginia 1791, Botetourt County, Virginia, USA I have not included other siblings in this summary. Because all my information has been gleaned off the internet, it may not be correct. One anomaly is that Tillett-123 is given as John III but he would be John IV if my scenario is correct. However, I don't know who pinned III on him.

Thank you,

Tim Leahy

The profiles lack sources and that is what is needed to prove/disprove the connections.

You have a good point, Marion.  But, when in doubt, go with the more credible option. I have provided a link to a summary of original sources, which names Millicent and the husband and father of John Tilletts.

In addition, now that her sister, Amelia Veale, has been substituted as John III mother, the error is clear.  His date of birth is 1729, whereas hers is 1730.  While birth dates of that era maybe wrong by a few years, Amelia cannot be the mother of John III unless you make him ten years younger and her ten years older, give or take two years.

Geni.com, however, has Millicent but only shows her second husband and no listing for any of the John Tilletts.

The summarized court case concerned a suit by John and George Tillett against Millicent's second husband, Job Carter (father of Peter, husband of Amelia Veale), over disposition of the will of their father, John Tillett.

Thus, even if we do not have original documents John and Millicent are more credible parents of John III who was born a year before Amelia, who has been added as his mother along with a George as the father of John III.
