William and Elizabeth Roberts christened at least one child in a South Carolina church, (William Roberts, christened 29 October 1794 at the Independent Congregational Circular Church in Charlestown, South Carolina)  Source:  "South Carolina Births and Christenings, 1681-1935", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V2N1-C22 : 22 January 2020), Willm. Roberts in entry for Thomas William Roberts, 1794.

Can anyone provide more information about the church records or the family?  One website:  https://www.circularchurch.org/content.cfm?id=2002&website_view=full explains the church's history.  Can someone access one of the online books to help with William Roberts and/or his wife Elizabeth Cox?

From the FamilySearch citation, the source is the South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, vol. 38. I would assume they extracted/serialized the original.

Some issues are available as pdf’s from Family Search Books, which In turn says the owning institution is “internet archive” which digitized it from the Allen County Library. Internet Archive is Archive.org

The specific record is in South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, vol. 33 (1932), p. 168. The issue can be accessed (with familysearch account) at https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/471865-south-carolina-historical-and-genealogical-magazine-v-33-no-2-apr-1932?viewer=1&offset=0#page=92&viewer=picture&o=info&n=0&q=, it is on image 92 out of 107 in this issue.

For a description of the parish registry book that was transcribed here, see the same magazine, vol. 33 (1932), p. 29 (at https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/462670-south-carolina-historical-and-genealogical-magazine-v-33-no-1-jan-1932?viewer=1&offset=0#page=33&viewer=picture&o=info&n=0&q=, image 33 out of 83).

On that same page is recorded a marriage 16 May 1790 of William Roberts and Elizabeth Lynn [not Cox].

Thank you!  My 3rd Great Grandfather had three sisters; one married an Englishman named Thomas Dyson Roberts - so I am not related to this family.

But after reading more about this church, including the British persecution, I recognize the challenges that William Roberts must have faced, and his courage.
