Can not trace further back than my grandparents from Poland

Hello,

I have not been able to find out any information regarding my grandparents from Poland. I have some information regarding them, but not their families.

My grandfather was Thomasz Olko. He was born on Dec 21, 1885 and was from Komian, Galicia, Poland.

My grandmother was Katarzyna Drzymala. She was born Oct 23, 1893 and was from Jezowe, Podkarpackie, Poland.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I have found this site helpful to me. I just click on the map on area of my ancestors, then search:

This can be frustrating as I've encountered this similar/same type of issue with a few tree lines myself.

I've been able to locate some information via the following link...

https://www.jewishgen.org/databases/all/

... It does take time to get used to it and it's Metadata system. Just remember to be patient and always double check results as others may have similar names as well.

I do wish you the best of luck! :-)

If your grandmother was Catholic, then her baptismal record will be in the parish records for Jezowe, which are stored at the Polish State Archive of Kielce's branch in Sandomier (the record at the general website for Polish archives is here). Unfortunately, none of the church records in this particular archive appear to have been digitized yet (unlike those in some other Polish archives with records relating to some of my ancestors).

I have not been able to identify the place "Komian" in Galicia.

Tomasz's immigration record (at ancestry.com) states that he was from Nisko, Galicia and was born at "Kamin". Nisko is the name of a town near Jezowe as well as the county in which Jezowe is now located. In the neighboring county, and adjoining Jezowe administrative district, is the administrative district of KamieĊ„. I would consider it a fairly good guess that this is where Tomasz was from. But it appears the preserved church books there begin only in 1889 or 1890. Probably someone who is expert in Polish research should take another look at what resources are available for this area.

I looked for them in the above link. The town and the grandmother's surname are there, just don't see grandmother. There is just a short range of birth years indexed for the town, so if the year is actually off, it might not be there.

Click on https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/ then click on

Province: Podkarpackie then click on

Parish: Jezowe

They have scans from that town, though you might need to shorten surname and add wildcard, but can't remember what wildcard to use...

Please forgive me for hijacking this thread - I've also not found Vernie's great-grandparents in this site (I suspect because the particular villages in which they were born have not been scanned for those years) - but that site has allowed me to break a brick wall with my own Polish ancestors. Thank you!
