I am researching my husbands side of the family - Whitten, which have have traced back to Donegal Ireland (paternal side) and Coutts  from Scotland (maternal) on Ancestry, and my own family Weeks and Bush. My husbands ancestors had big families who travelled.

Hi Verity,

I love that your subject line, your own name, is also what you're seeking, i.e. Whitten verities. :-)

My Whitten ancestors have been in New England since the 1700s. We're not sure about the parents of Thomas Whitten (ca. 1718-1790). Irish, Scottish, or English?

Has your husband considered a YDNA test?
