What is the reason for a line between Categories and Biography heading? [closed]

I am wondering why some people like to add a ---- at the top of the text in a profile, after the last category and before the ==Biography== heading. Is there a reason for it, or is it a style preference?

It's a style preference and should not really be used. I couldn't find the reference after a quick look at the style guide, however, you'll notice that when you are in edit mode, and you hover your mouse over the horizontal line tool, it says "use sparingly."

It also makes little sense to use a line between the categories and ==Biography== heading since the categories have been moved to the bottom of the page.
It seems to have been put there long enough ago it probably made sense at the time as a separator for the categories and the biography, but can probably be removed now.

They made sense back when categories were at the top. I liked the look of it.  I’m pretty sure I’ve removed them all from my profiles.  But they might still be on some I’ve orphaned.
