Reuniting an heirloom? [closed]

I have an ongoing personal Roll of Honor project.

Last night I had received an email from the daughter of one of the crewmen who also died in the aircraft which had been shot down over Germany during WWII. The essence of the email was a request for help for in her possession is what by description appears to be an heirloom ring with a Latin inscription which she believes to be from James's family.

She wishes to return it, however in asking me, I have three issues at play:

  1.  As I am in New Zealand and this being an England based branch of the family, the information I have on my cousin here is limited
  2. Privacy Laws (obvious)
  3. Covid-19

A successful solution is contact with a Leigh descendant or a member of the Codner family, is anyone able to help us out?

Edits: misused word (descent instead of descendant was used originally)

I’ve found and added sources for James and his sister’s births and marriages, but have been unable to find evidence for any children using FreeBMD. There is a private son attached to his sister though.

Maddy

Edit - also checked and James doesn’t seem to have any other siblings.
The name of the son is mentioned in the Wikipedia of Richard Codner (James's brother in law), if you (or anyone) wants to edit him (the son that is) always welcome to request to join the trusted list

A very noble endeavor!  Let's do some digging and see if we can find the family!

Honestly, it came as a complete surprise. I didn't think an interest like that could result in a inquiry like this

  • At this point, it looks like Peter Codner (James's nephew) would be the first in line to inherit. If that fails, that would then go to Peter's 4 children.
  • A response has been made notifying the person who messaged me of this information (including the fact that I don't have contact information for him)
