I was wondering if someone could help me with formating. This profile is my Great Great Grandfather and the amount of information is overwelming me and I'm kind of new to this so greatly appreciate anyone that could help.

How sure are you he was born in Yorkshire?
not sure. they were married in that county My great Grandmothers Clara was born in Leeds,Yorkshire. should I remove that?
Melanie, he could just mark it Uncertain and list it in the bio as a possible place of birth , don't you think?
Reason I asked ---- I have a birth record for a John Stephenson in Downham, Norfolk - right year, right mother's last name.

I also have a marriage record for a Thomas Stephenson to a Mary Ann Wilton (probably a transcription error where the tt looks like an lt) - in Downham, Norfolk, for 1845.

I also have another birth record for a John Stephenson, 1846, Downham, mother's last name Witton. (No death reg, but babies didn't always get both birth and death registered if they died same day/next day.)

I also have a birth record for Mary Stephenson, 1853, Dewsbury, Yorkshire West Riding, mother's last name Witton.  (And that's as far as I have looked so far.)

I formatted and added the Trove citations (instead of the long links) for some of the newspaper articles -- and moved them up into the biography instead of under sources.  (I also added a little heading "In the News".)

If you don't like it, you can revert it.  (There are still a bunch of the long links to go, but I need to do some other stuff for a while.)

Someone else in the family said he was born in Norfolk I've found no proof of that yet. Can you pass on the details and I might order the certificate to check. Also the marriage record would be great.
Thank you so much. looks great
I finished the rest of those "loose" links under sources -- moved them up to the bio, chronologically (not always by date of publication, because the inquiry into the fire was in the paper before the item about the fire, so I reversed those).

edited to add -- I added the birth reg info and the marriage info as a research note.   It can be removed at any time.
Thank you so much! your awesome
Thanks Melanie, it was my bedtime in the US, and plus wasn't sure if I was as qualified to format as you , if I got all the references. Nice job!

I think what needs to happen here is to put all the sources into inline sources up in the biography section, just like with source one.  And maybe do headings to organize ==Birth==.all the records, ==Marriage== all the records, ==Children==...., Listing all with any records that are corresponding to the father of the profile, ==Occupation== think I seen a record, ==Census== , and of Course ==Death== all the records.

Others make it read like a story and insert the corresponding inline sources.  It's really up to you how you like it.

Glad to have you here on Wikitree!!

Yeah .. I looked at all those Trove links.  They could all be texted down, or grab the citation from Trove as I did for the one article.

I also grabbed the FindAGrave preferred citation and added that.
Awesome help   Melanie . The sources below the 3rd inline could just be moved up into the biography as is I think and maybe make one heading of == Court Records== ?
Thanks I'll try to copy what you did, see how I go
