From your contributions list, I see that you did upload a Gedcom, but these profiles for your parents, were already on WikiTree, so you linked yourself to them, as you should have. But the profiles are not Open, so you will need to email info @ wikitree.com and ask to be added as the profile manager for their profiles.

thank you both Michel and Patricia.. I realized after I posted that the date of creation on mothers was much further back than his upload, so I figured he linked to the existing... I admit, I forgot to look up at the privacy level. just forgot if its private you can't adopt. oops.  thanks again for both of you chiming in.

hi tom, I'm not sure how it happened that you aren't profile manager.. But click on your link above to Cleo Grissom and where you see  all of this

"

Mother of [private daughter (1920s - unknown)], Virginia Marie Grissom, [private daughter (1930s - unknown)], Tom Grissom Jr. and [private son (1930s - unknown)]

Died 1970s.

No Profile Manager [adopt this profile]

Click on   [adopt this profile]

that should solve the issues, also go to your dad's as well, and also do the same, I see that you are not profile manager of either of them.

After this I would go thru and check your direct lines in particular - going through each of their sets of parents, and just look to see if you are profile manager on the ones you created. If not, if they say No Profile Manager, then just click the adopt profile on all that need doin.

Remember wikitree is a 1 tree for all members, with one profile for each person who lived. so the further back you go, the more likely you are to find there are other profile managers within your direct lines.  This doesn't mean you can't add to the profiles, you can, but if you feel any major changes need to be made always contact the profile manager (private messg thru the link on the profile(s) in question).

hope this helps

To add to this good answer: Thomas A. Grissom Sr has a non open profile but no profile manager. If you try to adopt him (= become a profile manager) you will need see the warning that you will have to e-mail info @ wikitree.com to ask to open up this profile. Make sure you do not change privacy settings of profiles without a profile manager before you have adopted them.

You (Tom) uploaded a Gedcom, probably with some matches. But that does not mean the profiles were created or will become 'yours' as Arora says. Nobody owns the profiles, we look after them as profile managers. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:GEDCOM for help on GedComs and how Wikitree uses them.
