So might the Magdalena who married Lindsay be a different person?

-

She was German, so would have thought as a German.  Her last name was hers.

thankyou for your hard work on my behalf
i would like to say thankyou to Marion Poole and Amy Utting for the help and hard work on my behalf with Mary Magdaline Miller

Her name in the marriage record to Lindsay is Magdelina/Magdalina Müller https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-14$init=RGD37-1-14P473

I cannot find a death for a John Lindsay between 1855 and 1860.

edit --  adding alternate spelling from document.

on her marriage to John Halford she is listed as a widow
To be a widow you need a deceased husband - hence the looking for a death for John Lindsay.

John Halford

The marriage certificate has his name as Allford, not Halford, nor Alford.

https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD37-1-19$init=RGD37-1-19P341

as you spelling of names is by who ever writes them as a blood descendent of John ie his 3 x great grandson I know his surname is Halford, I also know it was misspelt on Gloucester Assises which transported him to Van Diemans Land. The spelling is not an issue with respect

On his profile you have the statement

Mary Magdaline married John Alford on 12 jun 1860

All I'm saying is that the document says Allford — no matter what his name was before, or after, that document has him sign his name as Allford.
