I cannot find a death for a John Lindsay between 1855 and 1860.

To be a widow you need a deceased husband - hence the looking for a death for John Lindsay.

as you spelling of names is by who ever writes them as a blood descendent of John ie his 3 x great grandson I know his surname is Halford, I also know it was misspelt on Gloucester Assises which transported him to Van Diemans Land. The spelling is not an issue with respect

All I'm saying is that the document says Allford — no matter what his name was before, or after, that document has him sign his name as Allford.
