Looking for the parents of William Shannon born Feb 1836 in Scotland

+1 vote
I know there is a lot of information on folks named William Shannon. The guy I'm looking for was born about Feb 1836 in Scotland and died 21 Jun 1903 in Toronto, Ontario.  He married Ellen Henry, also born in Scotland on 26 Mar 1853 and died in Toronto in 1916. They had a large family including Henry Irwin Shannon (sometimes called Harry) born on 17 March 1883 died 17 Mar 1942. I thought for quite along time that my William Shannon was the one born in Annan Parish in Dumfriesshire on 14 Nov 1833 particularly since he was the son of William Shannon and Isabella Kirk and MY William Shannons's first two children were named William and Isabella.  But I know now this is not my guy. Sadly. Too many Shannons!! I'm running out of luck but you gotta have faith!! I can't even find an actual marriage date for William and Ellen but their first child was William T Shannon born on 17 May 1877 so we have to ASSUME William and Ellen sometime before then....if they were ever married at all.   Thank you for your efforts.

Do you know where WilliamT was born?

There is only one Ellen Henry registered between 1850 and 1858 in Scotland's People (using the approximated year of birth(1856) from the Canadian census) :

Surname: HENRY
Forename: ELLEN
Gender: F
Birth Date: 8/9/1854
Baptism Date: 25/9/1855
Parish: Airdrie, St Margaret's

There are a number of Helen Henry registrations, the closest is :

Surname: HENRY
Forename: HELEN
Gender: F
Year: 1856
Ref: 195/ 44
RD Name: Foveran

I have been unable to find a marriage for William Shannon and Ellen Henry in Scotland's People, so am checking FreeBMD for an English wedding.

Neither of the above possibilities would be correct, if a death record that looks as though it might be Ellen's accurately names her father as Thomas.  (Not knowing when she died, I really don't know if the record is for her.)
