Empty profiles

Question

I am new to Wiki tree, and I am sorry if this question has been answered before, but what to do with empty profiles? Ie. Unknown (Surname), and no information or sources, no biography other than created with Gedcom import etc. and no connection to other profiles. Considering that profiles can’t be deleted.

Did you check the changes log? Sometimes that will show who someone once thought the profile represented.

I share your frustration. You could join the Profile Improvement Project (PIP) and help by adding value to these blots on the community's landscape. I'm finding that the PIP training is extremely valuable to my own abilities to improve profiles and to learn some of the less obvious tools and abilities of WikiTree.

There is an Unknown project (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Unknowns) and profiles can be added to the category: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Unknowns

If the profile in question isn't already in this category, and it truly is alone and you can't identify the person and improve the profile, then adding the unknown category is probably the right solution.

Before you do that, be sure to check the change log for more information and also see if the person that created the profile is still active on WikiTree. They might have some insight.

You didn't link to the profile in question or mention anything else about it. Maybe if you linked to the profile, we could provide better direction.

Also, can you add the unknown project to the tags for this question, they may be able to help and give you preferred direction.

I would suggest emailing info@wikitree.com. I might be wrong, but I think in situations like these they do have the ability to delete profiles.
