Help please? Family Legend – True or False????
It was said that my Great great grandmother Elizabeth Clarke was related in some way to Jesse Watts-Russell of Ilam Hall.
The story goes that a Watts-Russell child ran away with the family Coachman with surname Clarke and eloped. Being “Beneath” the family, the Watts-Russell child was disinherited
I am trying to prove this once and for all as many of my Cousins, Uncles, Aunts have all given me the same story but nothing is proven.
The information I have so far:
Elizabeth Clarke b 28 August 1857 Warwickshire England.
The marriage certificate of Elizabeth Clarke to Walter Mounter.
Married 4 November 1879 in Coventry
Her father is noted as William Clarke – Farm labourer
I do not know her mothers name!!!
