How to merge with myself

I have recently come back to genealogy after taking some time out. I have decided to upload information that I have already gathered into WikiTree upto grandparents. I have now started looking at duplicates to check I have not created new profiles before I go any further. I have discovered that in 2013 I must have looked at WikiTree as I’ve already got a profile, I know it’s me as it has my email address. How do I delete it, or merge with the new me?

My opinion is that, since this is a unique situation, it appears that it really requires assistance from someone within the WikiTree Support team.

There's a handful of different WikiTree Help pages that may/might apply to this situation in one form or another, but I can only think of the following WikiTree Help link that can either provide support itself or assist you in locating the appropriate individual for support.

I wish you the best of luck! :-)

Well, it cannot be deleted, as in obliterated and duplicates are merged.

I see, the 2013 profile is Howard-8134 and the 2020 profile is Howard-30634 and both are you (in 2020)

I suggest you merge them. If that does not succeed, you would then contact info@wikitree.com and ask them about this situation

I expect the merge to be success, however at which point  you can continue to check, double check and create profiles

I did try merging them, but I couldn’t because the old profile has an active email address

I’ll ask info WikiTree, thanks
Admin has to do the merge because you are active and are living, at least I suspect you are!

The problem that will occur is that you will go back to the lowest seq, losing the ability to easily see your contributions on the latest profile ID.  You will be able to see them when you look at your contributions from existing profile and manually change the URL to the old sequence.
