Would Ma Francisca Luevano also be Maria as first name in the source? Thank you again for the clarification. Now I see that I should have seen that.

Pat, "Ma" is not a given name in Spanish. Usually, "Ma" or "Ma" in a female name stands for "María", so her full given name is María Francisca.

Hello Pat.

Another WikiTreer completed the merger of your great-grandfather Tiburcio's duplicate profiles.

Now, the "Relationship Finder" shows that Juan de Luevana is your 8th great-grandfather. See

Ruben, Thank you so much for what you do. I would like to master searching for sources. Are there written instructions for doing that? I hate to keep asking you to do things for me that I should learn to do. It seems so easy for you. I have many sources that I wish to attach.

No problem, Pat.

To find the above records in FamilySearch, use the FamilySearch "search" page for the related collection.

Example:

* Search in the Kansas State Census, 1925 Collection for "Joe Martinez" and your Joe Martinez's record (born in Mexico) will come up in the results.

* Search in the United States Census, 1930 Collection for "Jose Mortin" and the other record will come up in the results.

Many records in Ancestry are also available in FamilySearch. To find the record in FamilySearch, use the information from the Ancestry record in the FamilySearch "search" page.

One of my entries on Wikitree has anonymous in the "Preferred Name" entry. I can't remove it. The entry ID is Krickbaum-21. The profile name shows up as "Anonymous (Krickbaum) Cardona". This is the entry of my deceased wife who died in 2002. I want it to show up as "Karen (Krickbaum) Cardona".
Try entering "Karen" in both "Proper First Name" and "Preferred Name" fields and click on "SAVE CHANGES".
Good Afternoon Ruben,

As I get into the sources from the Santisima Trinidad church in Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico for the children of Tiburcio Luevano (LH7V-CKL) is see the Spanish term "del" or "de" which I believe means "of". My grandfather is Jose Socorro Luevano (LYKT-PBV). In the left margin of the original church ledger birth entry, his name was written in as "Jose Lorenzo Luevano" on May 17, 1892. The person indexing the information erroneously entered his name as "Lorenzo Luevano Martinez". On May 18, 1892, the infant child was taken back to the church to be baptized. In the left margin of the original ledger entry, his name was written in as "Jose del Socorro" and was indexed in as "Jose del Socorro Luevano". Could "Lorenzo" and "Socorro" have been the god parents of the birth and baptismal event respectively? There was another church birth source entry of "Maria del Refugio Luevano". I was wondering if "del Refugio" could mean that a person named "Refugio" was her god father. I know that when my siblings and I were baptized in the Catholic Church in the United States we were given a saint's name and those who witnessed the baptism were your god parents and included in the baptismal certificate.

No one with the name following "de" or "del" were present for the birth or baptism events of my grandfather or his siblings. Could they have been asked to be the god father of the child.

Since Jose and Lorenzo are one and the same person, is there a way to remove "Lorenzo" as a child of Tiburcio and Manuela. It was entered on the tree by a third person and I don't think I can get permission to remove him from the tree.

Thanks,

Pat
Sorry for this late replay, Pat.

In the cases above, the particle "del" or "de" is part of the name (and sometimes, ommited). There is no relation to the godparents or to another different person.

Lorenzo's birth was not recorded in a church in Teocaltiche.

His birth was recorded 17 May 1892 in the civil registry of "Paso de Sotos", (now "Villa Hidalgo"). The pages in the book are stamped * REGISTRO CIVIL - PASO DE SOTOS * ESTADO DE JALISCO *.

The oldest "Civil Registration" records books in FamilySearch classified "Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco" starts on 1923. "Paso de Sotos" changed its name to "Villa Hidalgo" in the 1920s.

Earlier books are classified in Teocaltiche because "Paso de Sotos" administratively was part of Teocaltiche.

The following images in a FamilySearch film of "Villa Hidalgo" church records convinced me that "Paso de Sotos" and "Villa Hidalgo" is the same place:

Image 23/637: Libro de Bautismos en la Iglesia de la Sma Trinidad de Paso de Sotos, Año de 1919

Image 174/637:  Libro de Bautismos en la Iglesia de la Sma Trinidad de Paso de Sotos, Año de 1924

Image 175/637:  Libro de Bautismos en la Iglesia de la Sma Trinidad de Paso de Sotos. Villa Hidalgo, Año de 1924

"Villa Hidalgo" was also added to the header in Images 234 to 387 (years 1924-1930).

Image 611/637: In the page at the RH side is said that the book ceased to be in use 19 Apr 1918 "Dado en la Parroquia de Sotos". The book was resumed July 1945 "Villa Hidalgo, Jal."

In (the same) image 611/637, see record no. 1271, in the page at the LH side: "En la Parroquia de Paso de Sotos ..." (27 Feb. 1918) and record no. 1, in the page at the RH side: "En la Yglesia Parroquial de la Sma. Trinidad de Villa Hidalgo ..." (3 Mar 1946).

Socorro was baptized 18 May 1892 in "La Parroquia de Paso de Sotos". So both events happened in the same place, "Paso de Sotos" (now "Villa Hidalgo") on 17 and 18 May 1892.
