Looking for some conundrum breakers assistance. One of the men my biological mother married used an alias (see Moran-4022), I was able to sort him out a bit, however, his father (Moran-4704) has stumped me. I've found a marriage certificate and one census record. There is a possibility he worked on a ship as part of the crew, based on some research documents that came up. I don't know how to prove or disprove this. His employment on a ship would explain his wife citing herself as married in following census records, yet no husband accounted for in the household. Any assistance/guidance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Betty, thank you for taking a peek at this, however, I do not believe the Manhattan John J. Moran & Florence Moran are the same family group as the one I am looking for.

Florence M. Schnibben Moran is found in the 1930 census with her mother in Brooklyn. She is also found in the 1940 census. Making the Manhattan grouping highly unlikely, although it would have made things much easier.

The Brooklyn military enlistment John J. Moran is a more likely possible. His eventual wife, Florence Schnibben, appears to have kept to the Brooklyn area.
The Manhattan Moran family group, evidently, are John Clementine Moran & Florence Henderson Moran.
