Merge for William Solomon Jowers

I found two identical William Solomon Jowers William Solomon Jowers (abt.1841-1903) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree and William Solomon Jowers (abt.1841-1903) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

Now, William married twice, and each of these two profiles has one of the wives. They are also managed by different profile managers.

They were gedcom and they were essentially unsourced so I sourced them a bit, and tied them to the profile at familysearch.org (both spouses listed there) where they can collect other sources -- I also added William's FaG where both spouses are listed

If I understand the merge thing, William's two profiles would become one and BOTH WIVES would be accounted for.  Is that correct?

I wasn't sure about what other tags to put on this besides merge and Jowers

AND is there someone out there willing to initiate the merge? Please?

OK

FIrst thing, you find the profile with the lowest-numbered ID. Then you merge the other into that one. First give each profile both wives, which will make them essentially identical.

Go to the "initiate a Merge" option on the profile of J-187. Add J-22 as the final ID.

Then Compare, to make sure they are the same.

Then select MERGE.

After which, you'll have to wait on the 2 profile managers to approve or not.

Okay dokay ... I made sure each of the profiles of William Solomon Jowers had BOTH wives listed.  Was not sure about doing that, wondering if that would create DUPLICATE files for EACH wife ... I certainly hope it will not

Bless both of you, Melanie and Lois ... I can manage to merge two profiles I manage, learned how to do that after some fails but anything else gives me the whim wham fails ...

My reason for the merge was, in part, that each profile had just one of the wives.  That is no longer the case. cheeky

Lois say to make sure "First give each profile both wives, which will make them essentially identical."

So I did. Not sure I can detach them though since i'm not the PM on either file ...

in theory I should be able to detach them since I was able to attach them ?

Are you saying I should detach them?

Are you saying I should detach them?

NO!  surprise

What you have to do now is wait for the profile managers to respond. Check the FIND option for "pending merges" for surname Jowers once in a while. After 30 days, if neither PM rejects the merge, you can complete it.
