Projects - which / how many templates, categories and google groups to a profile ...?

Earlier today I tried to get an answer to this question: Because it has bearing on the example below, a profile that straddles three projects: The Voortrekker Project. the Dutch Cape Colony Project, and the South African Roots project. The way the Google groups are understood to work now, is 1 group to a project on the active manager list. If there is more than one project to a profile (Project as manager + google group + project template), the Error Data Base will throw out an alert. (If this is not the case we'd like to hear it).

Now in the example below, there is the geographical category [[Category:Graaff Reinet District, Dutch Cape Colony]] and the administrative category [[Category: Cape of Good Hope Ready]] (actually a maintenance category - to keep track of the amount of validated profiles in the COGH project, validated with an uploaded baptism image and transcription and profile protected subsequently - this profile protection does not apply to the South African Roots project, as that project has much more standardised names under it's umbrella). And then the {{Voortrekkers}} template, because it belongs to this destinct project.

So far so good. But now - my issue is that if there is only one Google group to a profile (the Voortrekker) and not two others as well (the SAR and/or COGH) on the trusted lists, the communication on changes and events pertaining to those Projects, is limited. So the question is - which / how many templates, categories and google groups to a profile ...? Because the COGH misses out and eventually the SAR project, unless one is also member of the Voortrekker project. I've been to the leaders of the projects involved and the verdict is still out.

Therefore this is my question: - are two projects (and thus Google groups) allowed to straddle the same profile? One as active manager and one on the trusted list?

The short and simple answer is - Yes. This is done on a number of profiles already.

  • One Project as Manager
  • The Project Box for the Managing Account
  • Everyone else (including Project Accounts) on the Trusted List

Help:Project-Managed Profiles states that:

Can projects follow profiles but not manage them?

"Yes, a profile may be followed by a project but not managed by it. In these cases, the project account should be on the Trusted List but not set as the manager and a project box should not appear on the profile.

Project management is only appropriate if members are expected to coordinate major changes with the project instead of with an individual profile manager."

Thanks Steve, this is really helpful.
Is it possible to have 2 or more projects (google groups) on the List, one active and the others passive (trusted), and yet only have 1 main category? Or should every group represented on a profile have a corresponding category in the bio, even if it is a sub-category?
I see my that my question is silly, as you have already answered it.
