A little more information might be helpful, as the  records for Ireland are very different from those for England.

Frank - does that record say the nationality of the parents?

edit -- never mind, found an image that does.
Hi Frank and Melanie,  Thank you for the update Re: Catherine Frost.

I have checked the Massachusetts vital records... Parents of Frank Mitchell are William and Catherine Mitchell.....  George and Margaret Frost are the parents of Catherine Frost.  I know Catherine married Frank Mitchell in Boston in 1880.  However, my problem is the Census records are conflicting sometimes saying she is from Ireland, sometime from England.  I find no record of her in either place.  I would just like to know where she is from and how she got to US.  I unfortunately never met the lady.  Thanks for your help.  Margaret Pettibone
As her parents are marked as Irish, it is more likely she, too, was born in Ireland.  However, I was also unable to find any records -- Irish OR English --  to verify that.  (And I tried various spellings.)  I was also unable to find a marriage record for the named parents (thinking I could use that to find her).
Dear Melanie,  Thank you for the follow up.  The only thing I found on Irish Roots were a Batt Frost and Peggy Cleary who had a child Catherine in the Irish Poor House (Kilidysert).  If one looks at the Massachusetts Marriages... Catherine Frost's parents are listed as George Frost and Margaret Frost... so perhaps "Peggy" is not a stretch.  Otherwise I find nothing in UK or Ireland.  Perhaps she came in on a Famine Ship via Canada??.

The parents of her spouse Frank Mitchell I have verified on his death certificate as "William Mitchell and Katherine Holland".  On Catherine's death certificate her father is listed as R. Frost,  her mother as Mary Clark...  get confusing.!! Thanks for your help.  Margaret Pettibone
Peggy IS a diminutive form of Margaret (or can be). As with Meg, Meggie/Meggy, you get Peg/Peggy.

Have you looked for famine ships?

The information on a death record is only as good as the knowledge of the person giving the information.  Presumably the information on the marriage record is more likely accurate, given it came from the person involved, not a 3rd party.

Paul 5413,  Thank you for the update.  Indeed you are correct the death record info. is only as good as the knowledge of the person giving the information.  I as well thought the marriage record should be more accurate.

Checked the Massachusetts Town and Vital Records 1620 -1988.

Frank Mitchell parents listed as:

William Mitchell and Catherine Mitchell

Catherine Frost parents listed as:

George Frost and Margaret Frost

I find nothing for Catherine Frost in US, UK/Ireland.

Thanks for your help.  Pettibone 1742
