I thought that since she was born so close to enumeration time, her parents might have been living in that town at the time of the census. I searched, but didn't get a hit. No hit for 1930 either. Probably just as you experienced.
That doesn't mean her parents aren't there. It is not a common name, so it could have been poorly heard, poorly written, poorly spelled, poorly transcribed, poorly indexed, or some combo of those.
In that case, one option is to have a look through the handwriting of the census yourself. It has worked for me in the past. If the town is really large, you might want to do a little research to see if there are neighbourhoods that are more likely than others - economically, or ethnically, or whatever the town is about.
