October 2 - October 5 — the start of Family History Month — is our fifth annual "Source-a-Thon"!

This three-day event is for a good cause (sourced genealogy!), there will be lots of door prizes donated from around the genealogy community, and it will be lots of fun.

The marathon starts Friday, October 2 at 8 AM (ET) and ends Monday, October 5, 8 AM (ET) but you don't need to participate the whole time (!). If you can join for any of it, please post an ANSWER below saying either the team you'd like to be on (see the team list) or your genealogical interests or geographic location and we'll assign a team before the start of the event.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a small piece of software dealing with this registration? Instead of using a FAQ system?
It would, Michel -- are you volunteering?? ;-)

Well... not sure one would allow a newbie to make such changes cheeky. But who knows...

laugh

Maybe your suggestion will put a bug in someone's ear.

Mum Julie, Michel showed us at the DRP he is able to make (small) miracles happen.

So cherish the bug! And mark his ID! (But do not steel him away from us! winklaugh

I'm registred as #489 but there is no sign of my participation anywhere. Not in the team I signed up (Spic-n-Span Scandinavians; I added my-self on that page but doesn't seem to change anything) and not showing up in the tracking lists. Feels a little bit left out...

Hi Ben, try posting here to see if it can be sorted out - https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1116016/do-you-have-2020-source-a-thon-questions
OK thanks will do!
Shucks! I missed it!...again..  Bummer..maybe in 2021..or are we doing these more than once a year?  Thx
The next thon will be in 2021...Scan-A-Thon, We will see you then!

Yes! Sign me up!! I'd love to participate in the Source-a-thon. I would like to be either on team A Rose by any other Name, or Tree Nuts as I couldn't find any other team that deals exclusively with Portuguese or Cape Verdian. Thank you!
by Valora Frazier G2G4 (4.2k points)

Hi Valora! We're happy to have you on Team Roses. Our team members work by surname, project,  or location of their choosing, so it's a great fit. I've got you on the team roster and will send you some more information in a bit.

Which team do you prefer?  I think you have chosen team Missouri but put your explanation in the space below with Zola.

Thanks, M.A.! You're #506.

Looks like Eowyn assigned you to Team Missouri. Happy to have you with us. I just left some helpful links in the comments on your profile.

I would like to register. This is a first for me. I live in USA, PA, but my research focuses mainly in NC, southwestern VA, NE, also IN, MD, to name a few states where my ancestors lived.
by Zola Noble G2G3 (3.3k points)
Mid-Atlantic covers Pennsylvania.  We would love to have you join us.  However, whatever team you join, you are encouraged to work wherever your interests lie as well as your home state.
Not at this time.  Maybe next if I like it.
I think this is an answer for the question above to M. A. Old.

Thanks, Zola! You're #507.

I would like to join the Mid-Atlantic team even though Delaware was not included in the list.
by Raymond Ganoe G2G Crew (810 points)
Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic team.  You are certainly able to
work on Delaware profiles while being on a different team
location.  All of the improvements to wikitree sourcing is an improvement for the whole tree.  I am adding your name to
our team.

Thanks, Raymond! You're #517.

First timer and new member, but sign me up. I'm in Arkansas, so I'm guessing either the Cornbread Catchers or the Super Sweepers would be the team for me. My family lines generally came through Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia or Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Thanks!
by Kim Troboy G2G1 (1.4k points)
Team Missouri covers Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma. You're welcome to join us!
Thanks! I'd love to join you. My worry is whether this the right group if more of the ancestors I need sourcing for are further east and south? Being a newcomer, I'm not sure how this works.
Wouldn’t matter to us if you worked outside of our area but there are at least two other teams that would cover those areas. Absolutely up to you which team you choose.

Thanks, Kim! You're #521.

So, I guess you're on Team Missouri then? I'll get you added. Welcome aboard!!

Please sign me up, it sounds like fun.  Since my family is from all over the place I think either Legacy Heirs or Tree Nuts might be an appropriate team.  Or if there is a team dealing with dna surpises, that would also work.
by Joi Krueger G2G2 (2.5k points)
Legacy Heirs is honored to  have you on the team. I am getting you on the team roster.

Here is the link for the team chat page: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1095181/legacy-heirs-2020-source-a-thon-g2g-chat

Thank you for adding me to your team.  I look forward to helping out.
