Comments on James Douglas

This question was raised a few months ago and I recently noted the same.  James Balfour Paul (see: https://archive.org/stream/historyofhouseof01maxw#page/n301/mode/1up) [correction: https://archive.org/stream/scotspeeragefoun06pauluoft#page/350/mode/1up] and other sources indicate that the mother was Agnes not Isobal.

On 27 Sep 2019 RJ Horace wrote on Douglas-409:

I think his mother should be Agnes [[Dunbar-914]]. (The parents currently shown weren't a couple - Isobel Stewart is correctly married to this James's father's 4th cousin, the 2nd earl, a very different James Douglas)

Thom, the work you linked to does not cite any sources.  And it appears that the sources for Isabel are more reliable. But we need someone with pre-1500 experience to weigh in.

Certainly, the narrative of this profile conflicts with what is in the data fields, and that needs resolving.

Oops, I mentioned James Balfour Paul but posted the wrong link: https://archive.org/stream/scotspeeragefoun06pauluoft#page/350/mode/1up
