WikiTree will not accept new profile

Question

I am attempting to create a new profile for William Hoyle born 1843 and died 1906. WikiTree rejects the profile because he cannot die (1906) before he is born (1843).

It's not dying before *he* is born.  It's dying before his last child is born.

Okay except I had no children assigned to him so that should not be a factor.

double-check that you don't have any typos in the dates (like 1943 instead of 1843)...

Or an accidental space after it.

It might also have to do with the relationships. If there is for instance a child of him, he cannot die more than 9 months before the birth of that child. Same with marriages etc.

Double check that you entered the death date correctly.  You may have entered 1806 instead of 1906.  That is the problem when I get that message.

If either of those is a less than or greater than date, I think it is a known bug (foggy memory).  I think if you leave off one of the dates it will be accepted, then edit the profile and add the other date.

I resolved the problem by changing his vital statistics to "uncertain but non-living." The profile was accepted then. I think Kerry Larson is correct that there is a WikiTree bug.

I experienced this problem in the past but never asked a question about it because I came up with a similar work around (that I now can't recall). A work around that didn't compromise the integrity of the completed  profile and it's internal data (something similar to what Kathy did).  :-)
