New Southern Colony Stickers giving 896 Unknown parameter error

This week I added a bunch of the new Southern Colony sitckers indicating which state the person was from to profiles, now I'm seeing a bunch of 896 errors in my suggestions, indicating that the state is an unknown parameter. How should I resolve this?

Christina, I'll ask Liz S who helped us launch these to look into the matter. Thanks for raising this; don't do anything about the error just now.

Thanks Christina and Jillaine for letting me know. I've sent Aleš & Steve an e-mail & also added the Ales tag. I checked the parameters in use (a really neat feature of the Template Information Box - "Parameter usage on profiles") & corrected the one sticker that actually was a database error.

Thanks again, and sorry again! I do hate it when my suggestion list explodes.

Cheers, Liz

Add Ales tag.  Looking at the sticker page, it has specific states and Jamestown as valid values but the project has the same 896 Suggestion that look correct so there may be a problem with the Suggestion.

Sorry! The table with parameters didn't get updated before the run for database errors. I'll take a look at them, to make sure that there aren't any typos. But you can ignore it or mark it as false. The table should be updated by next week's DBE run.

So sorry for all the extra suggestions!

Cheers, Liz

Wow! There are a lot of them - US Southern Colonies Teams have been busy. Way to go y'all!!

Quick check for you - if the sticker is displayed and has the Colony name that you added the switch/parameter for, it's not an error.

Cheers, Liz

edit - finished checking... just one that needed to be corrected. Y'all rock!

Thank you Liz! I'll just ignore them for now til the next update

Update about the sticker.

The problem that was causing the false error was corrected. So... If you're seeing a DBE 896 for US Southern Colonist or US Southern Colonist Sticker now it's because you either have a colony switch on the project box (which only supports the parameters needs= needs1= & needs2=) or you're not using one of the 7 values for the colony switch on the sticker - from https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:US_Southern_Colonist_Sticker -

Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Jamestown

Pick just one colony per profile. Using the switch adds the colony-level Colonists category & the Colonists categories are more a tool for the project and team. You'll want to add appropriate location categories to help people find the person or to help identify neighbors and family members.

See [this page] for more about US Southern Colonies Project Categories.

Thanks, Liz for your work on project stickers and categories. Much appreciated.
Thanks Liz for responding to this issue
If you're reading this... an important update: The project box now not only supports the colony parameter but also requires it. So instead of DBE 896 if you do use, say, "|Maryland", you'll get DBE 894 (Missing Required parameter...) if you don't, with either the project box or the project sticker. See https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1280169/us-southern-colonist-sticker-errors for more info on US Southern Colonist/Sticker DBE 894.

Cheers, Liz
