How should I handle profiles with no information?

In researching for merges and matches, I have been finding lots of bare profiles.  Although the profiles are open, there is nothing in them except a name.  I think there must be thousands!  If there is no connection to anyone (parents, children, etc.), is it OK to propose merges with another person of the same name, just to get rid of the person with the blank profile?

Hi Vic,

Those are a shame. Yes, I've faced this same issue, and I think you're exactly right. If there are no relationships and no dates, just a name, the person might as well be your person as anyone else with the same name. You're doing WikiTree a big favor by doing the merge.
