I thought I had added sources my Fathers Birth Certificate and Death Notice, what more do they want

When you go to the edit tab and look at the raw coding for the profile, above the ===Biography=== you should see something that says something about being unsourced. You need to manually remove that - the Wikitree system is not smart enough to realize when you have added sources.

Mark, Welcome to WikiTree and thanks for caring about sources. You can find more about sources on the Sources help

It's great to include enough information so someone else can find the source (which becomes more important as you add more ancestors, since you will find cousins). I'm no expert, but there are examples of both a death certificate and newspaper obituary on my father

Maybe the source is not complete. You state 'birth certificate'. But that is not really complete I am afraid. A certificate is issued at a specific date, location. With older profiles the certificate also gets a number, and when archived it is officially at a repository.

The meaning of a good reference is to guide other readers to the source, without them having to look up where they should be looking. Kay already posted the link to the general page about sources. That should give enough information.

Hi Mark!

So there is a notation that gets added to profiles where during the creation process nothing is added into the last box on the page marked Sources. A profile can be created without sources, but it's generally not preferred. However, living persons or persons who might be challenging to find sources for can be created this way.

So this notation (looks like "{{Unsourced}}" ) is generally found at the top of the biography section. Even if you add sources, it won't automatically go away. You still have to delete it. Once you delete this, the large warning box will go away.

Hope that helps.
