This is as sad as it gets. Seaver was a hero of mine, even though the took down my Braves in ‘69. What a great pitcher. To quote from an article:

Seaver, regarded as the greatest Met of all-time, had a 2.86 earned-run average and struck out 3,640 batters over a career that spanned from 1967 to 1986. He earned 12 All-Star selections, led the National League in wins and ERA three times apiece, and strikeouts five times. Elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992, Seaver was on 98.8 percent of ballots, which was the highest voting percentage ever received at the time.”

I liked Seaver when he was playing for other teams, but really loved him when he was pitching for the Reds. Seems to me he was not happy with the whole trade thing, but at the same time, he was a true professional and did his best to prove his worth no matter where he was.

Seems like I heard about just a few pitchers in that era that batters knew it was going to be a pitcher's game and Tom Seaver was always in that discussion.

Sad that he went a little at a time, but I hope he is at peace now.
So Sad I loved to watch him pitch I was a young girl

I did a search and could not find any matches, so I have created a starter profile for him. His parents are listed in Wikipedia (and on his profile now) so it's conceivable we could add additional sources, build profiles for his parents, and connect him to the tree.

Correction - it does appear there is a duplicate. I'm guessing the other profile didn't use his first name of "George". Merge request has been submitted.
Merge is complete (Thanks, Ryan!).
