Sounds like you might need to split your GEDcom into smaller pieces.  Here's how to do it:

The smaller the better, Victoria. Might seem a pain but it makes it easier to handle. About 500 profiles is good

or smaller, especially until you have gone through the entire process once to realize that nothing can be added to the system UNTIL you have compared every profile in the Gedcom to wikitree profiles.  It isn't like the process on other sites.

I have seen as small as 25 profiles suggested.
