I would like to be blocked from G2G [closed]

Could someone block me from participating in G2G?  Is a blanket block possible?  I would like to be unable to post questions, respond to other questions, or otherwise participate in G2G.  Since I lack the willpower to cease participating on my own, I would appreciate it if someone could block my ability to participate.  Thank you.

I don't believe such functionality exists.
Consider a compromise: draft your comment or answer or whatever, and then tap cancel instead of "add comment/answer". I did that for quite awhile and then was finally able to just stop (obviously for comments and answers that might cross someone else's line). This enabled me to get it out of my system without adding my not-so-humble opinions to g2g.

I find Jillaine's method to be very useful on Facebook, as well.  wink

Nan, I would never use Facebook, which is the best way to avoid that problem.
J -- there may be a way for YOU to do that, by way of your browser (I think it is).  I have a recollection of someone posting to a forum years ago that they needed to do such.  Perhaps you could look into that?

(Benefit of that is, such a self-imposed block would be easily removable once the negativity lifts.  I do empathise, even though I generally find helping out on g2g helps keep my blues away.)
While we would hate to see you go, you can use a temporary service like https://www.requestly.io/ to get the job done on Chrome and Firefox.

This will allow you to stay focused on the WikiTree site, but prevent you from accessing G2G. You can use regex or matching to filter for "/g2g/".

Probably the closest you could come is: go into Settings (in the dropdown menu My WikiTree), then scroll down to section 'Email'.  Click on the radio button which says

Don't receive email about any replies, even if you have opted to receive them on individual comments in the past.

But blocking you from asking questions?  That's like denying you collaboration; not what this site is all about.

In general, I don't receive email about replies.  That isn't a problem for me.  The problem is that I feel overwhelmingly negative, induced partly through this never-ending pandemic, and that negativity permeates my interactions here.  I thought that with the new guidelines for using G2G, you should be able to block people who bring negativity to G2G.  I'm sorry that option isn't available.  As for blocking collaboration, I encourage personal communication about genealogy; it's on my profile.
